The site that was working against them
The old site looked fine on a desktop. A homepage with some service photos, a price list as a PDF download, a contact form, and a booking link buried at the bottom. It had been good enough when it was built. But that was a different internet.
Today, over 70% of searches for beauty salons in Brisbane happen on a mobile phone. And when those customers landed on this salon's site, here's what they got: text too small to read without zooming, a layout that required horizontal scrolling, a PDF price list that wouldn't open on half the devices, and a booking button that was cut off by the screen edge.
Most of them left within 10 seconds. The salon never knew those visitors existed.
What we changed — and why
The brief was simple: the site needed to work for the customer who finds it on Instagram at 9pm on a Thursday and wants to book Saturday morning. That customer is on a phone, in a hurry, and will not scroll through four paragraphs of history to find the booking link.
Mobile-first layout
We rebuilt the entire site in Webflow with a mobile-first approach. That means the design starts from the smallest screen and scales up — not the other way around. Every element was tested on iPhone and Android before it was finalised. The booking button went into the hero section, above the fold, on every page.
Services as a browsable menu, not a PDF
The PDF price list was replaced with a clean, filterable services section. Customers can tap a category — nails, lashes, skin, brows — and see only what's relevant to them. Each service shows the price, time, and a direct booking link. No hunting. No downloading.
Photography that actually converts
The old site had four photos taken on a DSLR in 2018. We reorganised the existing photos into a gallery that loads fast on mobile and shows the quality of the work immediately. The photos didn't change. The presentation did.
How 48 hours is actually possible
The question we get asked most is: how do you build a website in 48 hours without it being a template that looks like everyone else's?
The answer is process. We've built sites for beauty salons, trades, fitness businesses, and hospitality across Brisbane. We know what works for each industry. That knowledge means we don't start from scratch on strategy — we start with a proven structure and adapt it to the specific business.
For this salon, the structure was: hero with booking CTA → services menu → gallery → about → testimonials → second CTA. That layout converts. We've seen it work across dozens of sites. What made this salon's site theirs was the photography, the brand colours, the copy, and the specific services they offer.
Webflow gives us the speed. Our process gives us the consistency. The result is a site that's both fast to build and genuinely tailored to the business.
"The best websites for small businesses aren't impressive — they're invisible. The customer finds what they need, books, and moves on. That's the goal."
What this means for your beauty business
If your website was built more than three years ago, it's almost certainly hurting you on mobile. Not because it's ugly — but because it wasn't designed for the way people search and book now.
A few things worth checking right now:
- Open your website on your phone. Not your laptop. Your phone. Can you find the booking link without scrolling? Can you read the price list without zooming?
- Check your Google Analytics (or ask us to). What percentage of your visitors are on mobile? For most Brisbane salons it's above 65%.
- Time how long it takes your site to load on your phone. If it's more than 3 seconds on a 4G connection, you're losing customers before the page even appears.
None of this requires a full rebuild if the fundamentals are right. But if they're not — if your site is costing you bookings month after month — fixing it is not as expensive or complicated as most salon owners assume.
Every Clawmark website is built in Webflow, mobile-first, with a booking flow that works. The website is free upfront. You pay a monthly subscription — and you see the design before you sign anything.
